Disobedient Dog - Training Tips That Will Prove Helpful For Your Beloved Pooch

Does your puppy or dog ignore you when you command him to do something? Who rules the territory in your home, you or him? Does he do his duties just wherever he chooses, or when you set down at the dinner table, is he dancing around the table saying " I want mine too?" Sounds like you have a disobedient dog that needs to be taught some discipline. In this article we are going to look at a few basic dog training tips that will prove helpful with your dogs behavior problems.

Training your dog in the beginning is very important, if you don't want to share your life with a disobedient pooch. Most people want to treat their dog or pup like their "little baby", but a dog is not a baby, it is a dog and they have to be treated like one. They have a totally different nature than we have and they have to be treated as such. They have to know who is in control, and you are the one that has to teach them this. There has to be rules established, and never back down from them. Set rules for him and be very consistent with enforcing those rules.

Here are a few training tips on ways to get your pooch to do as he is told:

- First off, they need to be taught the basic fundamental steps of obedience - sit, stay, and go. By teaching them these they will understand that you are the dominate party.

- When you first bring your dog into your home establish rules for him. Make it known to him where he has do his duties, whether it be outside, or inside on a pad. Keep a steady watch on him and get to know his habits, look for things that may trigger him to want to potty. It may be the smell of food, or a particular activity, be observant and get to know him.

- Make it known to him what parts of the home he is not allowed in and any furniture that is off limits, and be firm and consistent with your commands.

- Never make the mistake of feeding them from the table at mealtime This is one of the biggest mistakes that dog owners can make. Once this habit has been started it is one of the most difficult to break. This communicates to the dog that this is where he is supposed to have his meal. Instead, make him wait until you have finished your meal and then allow him to have his. This creates a sense of your authority over him and don't give in when he "whines", because he is being left out. He is not getting left out, he is just being made to wait until you have finished.

- Never allow jumping up, even when playing. Always make them sit and wait for you to give the commands.

- Always use a stern voice when initiating a command, as this will impress in the dogs mind that you are the dominant factor.

- Most importantly, reward them for their good behavior. Dogs have logical minds, therefore they think in terms of "good and bad." A dog learns by recognizing that a specified action is the either right, or wrong. A reward reinforces this thinking pattern. If you give your dog a reward when he does the right thing, he will associate that action with a reward. So each time he is rewarded you are reinforcing a positive frame of mind. They can be rewarded in several different ways, either by praise, food, or toys. I have found food to be the most effective for my own dogs, but use whatever seems to work best for you.

Training a dog involves a lot of time and hard work. With this being said, time and consistency are very important factors in the training process of your dog. You must take the time to get to know your dog and his habits and be very consistent in your training procedures.

You may even prefer to use a personal dog trainer, or there is also a number of online courses available to fill your needs
