The Pet Food Recall List - Does Your Pet Food Make The Grade?

The pet food recall list contained many types of animal food that was immediately pulled from the shelves due to dangerous ingredients that were harmful to animals. These recalls included food for birds, cats, dogs, ferrets, fish, and rats. and cost companies millions of dollars because of toxic foods being pulled from the shelves.

The United Pet Group was the only business who had bird food pulled from the shelves. The products pulled were the Ecotrition Tropical Fruit and Honey bars and the Wild Harvest Fruit and honey Cockatiel food.

There were a large number of cat food companies who had foods pulled from the shelves on the pet food recall list. Many of these companies included Diamond Pet Food for rice gluten problems, Doctors Foster & Smith for rice gluten problems, and Eight in One Inc for Salmonella issues. Many of the other companies include Science Diet, Sophistacat, Special Kitty Canada and US, Western Family Canada, Stuzzy Gold, and Triumph.

The dog food companies on the pet food recall list that had problems with their food causing salmonella included Eight in One Inc, Berkley & Jensen, Mars Petcare, and Ol' Roy. These are only a few of the dog food companies that had salmonella issues on the pet food recall list. A few of the dog food companies who had to remove dog food because of rice gluten include Costco, Canine Caviar Pet Foods, Blue Buffalo, Doctors Foster & Smith, Diamond Pet Food, Harmony Farms, and Mulligan Stew Pet Food.

There were two ferret food companies who were on the pet food recall list including Eight in One Inc and Ultra-Blend Advanced Nutrition. The Dingo Ferret Chicken Jerky Treats were pulled from the shelves due to the treats causing salmonella in ferrets. The Chenango Valley Pet Food Manufacturer had to pull the 20 pound bags of ferret food from the shelves.

Sergeant's Pet Care had to pull quite a bit of fish food from the shelves. The different foods that were required to be pulled included Atlantis Beta food, Atlantis Goldfish flake food, Atlantis Tropical Fish flake food of all types, and Atlantis Tropical Fish color enhancer flake food. Unfortunately, due to the toxic nature of these foods, the company was responsible for multiple fish deaths.

The rat food that was recalled also pertained to gerbils, hamsters, and mice. United Pet Group inc. had to pull Wild Harvest hamster, Gerbil, Mouse & Rat honey from the shelves because of the dangers it caused to the animals.

In just a few months, the pet food recall list grew to unbelievable proportions and contained hundreds of different foods from many manufacturers. These commercial pet foods were pulled from the shelves due to toxic amounts of bacteria and other toxins, causing all sorts of animals to become extremely sick and in some cases, die. Due to this recall, manufacturers of pet foods are now more careful with the ingredients. This is partly due to the millions of dollars lost in production and due to the liability issues from so many pets injured through ingesting bad foods produced by them.
